BIO pt 1- cell division and processes Flashcards
cell division, cell cycle
What is the full order of the cell cycle phases?
Interphase
Prophase
Metaphase
Anaphase
Telophase
Cytokinesis
What happens during Interphase?
The cell grows, performs normal functions, replicates its DNA, and prepares for division. in conclusion DNA is copied
What happens during Prophase?
Chromosomes condense, the nuclear membrane breaks down, and spindle fibers form.
What happens during Metaphase?
Chromosomes line up in the middle of the cell and attach to spindle fibers.
What happens during Anaphase?
Sister chromatids are pulled to opposite ends of the cell.
What happens during Telophase?
The nuclear membranes reform around the chromosomes, and the cell starts to divide.
What happens during Cytokinesis?
The cytoplasm divides, creating two identical daughter cells.
