bio Flashcards
How are Gamete and somatic cells similair
They both have chromosomes
how are gamete and somatic cells different
gamete is a sex cell while somatic is a body cell
How are meiosis and mitosis similar
both go through PMAT, and both divide cells
How are meiosis and mitosis different
meiosis goes through PMAT twice and it makes 4 daughter cells
What is the difference between a mendelian trait and a non mendelian trait
A mendelian trait is dominant or recessive while a non mendelian trait can be co dominant or incomplete dominance
What is the difference between codominance and incomplete dominance
Codominance is when traits have stripes or spots while incomplete dominance blends
How does meiosis increase genetic variation in a species?
Meiosis increases genetic variation when it crosses over in prophase 1, making the chromosomes all unique
What is the difference between haploid and diploid
Haploid is a single chromosome while diploid is a homologous pair
What cells are haploid or diploid
haploid are gametes and diploid are somatic
Why would a prokaryote not be a diploid
Because prokaryotes produce asexually giving them one chromosome
