Q

What are the steps of binary fission?

A

D- DNA Replication: the chromosomes are uncoiled, DNA and plasmids are replicated.
E- Elongation: The cell elongates, preparing to split into two cells and the duplicated chromosomes move to polar ends.
S - Septum Formation: The cell undergoes cytokinesis by pinching in and creating a septum. Plasmids are distributed.
C - Cell Division: - New cell wall and membrane is formed down the centre of the cell, the split apart leaving two genetically identical cells.
