MOA
A
Binds bile acids in intestine and prevents reabsorption and enterohepatic recirculation of cholesterol. Stimulates the synthesis of LDL receptors which results in increased uptake of LDL into liver cells (20% reduction in LDL)

It is given orally and is not absorbed so there are no adverse systemic effects.

GI distress bloating, constipation, etc
Unwanted increase in TG through inc HMG-CoA reductase cholesterol synthesis and VLDL.
