Sometimes people will study doctrine and will start debates that can divide friends and even split churches. People would prefer to be right, be the smartest, be in charge, have power, etc to win the argument.How is this different from the motivation God wants us to have in learning doctrine?

Grow close to God/ not know about God ( not just facts)
What are the two things necessary for right behavior?
Right affection & knowledge
Why do we need both? Isn’t love (zeal, eagerness) for God enough?
