  2. The purpose of prophecy is not only to satisfy curiosity but to establish faith in God (Isa. 46:10)
  3. There are two major different prophetic genre: Apocalyptic (Daniel) & Classical (The rest)

3 Different Categories of Prophecy Outside Daniel

A
  1. Messianic Prophecy
    -Prophecy about the Messiah (1st coming of Jesus)
    -Birth, Ministry, Suffering, Death of Messiah/Jesus.
    -Example Isa. 53 (famous Messianic Prophecy)
  2. Oracle against foreign nations
    -God has men; Israel (enemy: macedonians, babylonians, Assyrians, etc.)
    -Prophecy against nation
  3. Covenant-centered kingdom prophecy
    -Prophecy that God will establish His eternal Kingdom.
