How true or real the results are

How well the study reflects real life

When participants change their behaviours or responses based on what they think the research is about

Two variables investigated during correlational studies to find relationship
Age bias
When one age group is favoured over others
Observer bias
When researchers expectations opinions or prejudices influence what tgey percieve or record in the study
Bias in questioning
When questions are asked or formatted in a certain way that stears people toward a certain answer
Social desirability
When people try to present themselves in a generally favourable fashion
Population validity
Whether or not you can reasonably generalise the findings from the sample to a larger group of people- the target population
Construct validity
How well the procedure/ test measures what it’s supposed to measure
