Bi Syndrome - final Flashcards
what is normal shoulder ROM
abduction of 180 degrees
adduction of 50 degrees
what causes bi syndrome
wind external evil
cold external evil
damp external evil
how do the evils get into the joints
the 12 channels [and] network vessels internally home to the five viscera [and] externally with the joints of the limbs.
(6 channels run through the ankles; 6 channels run through the knees; 6 channels run through the wrist; and 6 channels run through the elbow) - these channels all communicate with the joints and internal organs.
what are the Bi patterns

what is boney bi
deterioration of the joints
when treating bi syndrome, what are the four types of points we should think about using
local points, distal points, adjacent points and pattern points
if we see high levels of uric acid in one’s lab results, we can assume they have what disorder
gout
what type of bi syndrome is gout
wind heat bi
what markers do we look for in lab results when there is bi syndrome
ESR (inflammation marker) - sed. rate, ereythrocyte sedementation rate
ANA (arthritis marker) - anti nuclear antibody
RF (RA factor) - positive in 70% of RA patients
Uric Acid - elevated in gout
what are the characteristics of RA
Usually affects joints symmetrically (on both sides equally), may initially begin in a couple of joints only, and most frequently attacks the wrists, hands, elbows, shoulders, knees, and ankles.
