What is a minimal pair?

A

Minimal pairs are words that are exactly the same except for one difference in place of articulation, manner of articulation or voicing.

A

‘bat’ and ‘pat’. This Is because when feature changes, the meaning changes. They show the differences that matter.

A

The way that consonants and vowels are realised within a language.
(They are different kinds of a given phoneme, they are context dependent)
