Beta-Blockers
Propranolol (inderal)
USE: Beta-blockers: treat high blood pressure, angina, and other cardiovascular disorders, tremors, migraine headaches, and glaucoma.
Also reduces symptoms of anxiety: such as palpitations, tremor, excessive sweating, and other physcial symptoms of anxiety
Mode Of Action: Block beta-adrenergic receptors, which respond to epinephrine and norepinephrine (lower activation)
Side Effects: bradycardia, shortness of breath, arterial insufficiency (Raynaud’s type), nausea, diarrhea, depression, dizziness, sexual dysfunction, trouble sleeping and numbness/tingling of the fingers and toes.
Propranolol lethal if you have certain respratory problems, and not for those with obstructive pulmonary disease.
Not discontinued abruptly: sweating, palpitations, headache, tremulousness, cardiac arrhythmia.
