What are the details of fibroadenoma
o Usually <30
o Benign overgrowth of collagenous mesenchyme of one breast lobule
o Firm, smooth, mobile lump, painless
o Could be >1
o 1/3 regress, 1/3 stay the same, 1/3 get bigger
What are the details of breast cysts
o Common >35 yrs esp. perimenopausal. o Benign, fluid-filled rounded lump o Not fixed to surrounding tissue o Occasionally painful o Dx confirmed on aspiration
What are the details of infective mastitis/breast abscesses
o Infection of mammary duct associated w/lactation
o Hot swelling of breast segment
o Give Abx
What are the details of duct ectasia
o Typically around menopause
o Ducts = blocked + secretions stagnate
o Nipple discharge (green/brown/bloody) ± retraction ± lump
o Refer for confirmation of diagnosis
What are the details of fat necrosis
Fibrosis and calcification after injury to breast tissue
