A
Benign breast tumours in milk ducts

How common is it
A
- Common
- Incidence = 2-3%

Who does it affect
A
women 35-55yrs

What causes it
A
Develops naturally as breast ages + changes shape

What are the symptoms
A
- Pain/discomfort
- Breast enlargement
- Blood nipple discharge - 80% of pt affected
- Palpable mass - elongated near lumen of duct
- Solitary lump near nipple
- smaller clusters further away

What are the signs
A
- Small 1-2cm
- Motile

What is a DDx
A
Breast cancer (risk of cancer if multiple papillomas)

What investigations do you perform
A
- USS/ mammography
- Biopsy (rule out cancer)

How do you treat it
A
- Hadfield’s procedure - remove all ducts
- Remove papilloma +/- milk duct via microdohectomy –> only affect milk duct
