Q

Give an example of the importance of Malaikah:

A

Give messages from Allah to the prophets. Eg, without Jibril, the message of the Qur’an would not have been recieved. Angels give people strength in times of need and war.
They also record people’s deeds which reminds Muslims they will be held to account for their actions.

Q

Give an example of the importance of Al-Qadr:

A

Some Sunni Muslims believe that God has already determined everything that will happen in the universe.
Some Shi’a Muslims believe that God knows everything that will happen but he doesn’t decide this - we do! God just knows what we will do. Predestination may give Muslims strength that whatever happens is part of a greater plan and purpose for their lives, giving them hope and resilience. They strive to live in accordance with God’s will.
Muslims believe this free will determines what happens on the Day of Judgement - Allah will decide who deserves paradise and who deserves hell.
‘Only what God has decreed will happen to us’ Qur’an.

A

Muslims will try to follow the rules and teachings of Islam in order to gain reward in the afterlife. They are reminded there is accountability for actions and therefore make sure they conduct themselves in a moral way. This involves helping others, following 5 pillars etc. Every action is a way of worship. Also reminds them about the importance of asking for forgiveness.

Q

What influences do the six articles and five roots have in difference?

A

1) Sunni and Shi’a Muslims both have different understandings of the successorship to Muhammad. Shi’a believe Muhammad’s cousin and son-in-law Ali is the rightful leader chosen after Muhammad’s death. Sunni chose Abu Bakr to lead.
Shi’a have a different understanding of imams / they believe that are appointed by Allah and spiritual descendants who are perfect, pure and infallible.
