What is meant by the term “Abnormal” Sexuality?

What are some of the components of the Desire component of the Sexual Response Cycle?
Sexual Drive –> genital sensations
Motivation –> psychological, willingness to offer body
Wish Fulfillment –> hoping/expectations for sex
What are some physical features of Arousal?
Erection, Vaginal Lubrication
Nipples Harden
Increase Respiration
Tachycardia
Increase in BP
What are the two basic physiological processes that occur during the Excitement part of the Sexual Cycle?
Vasodilation/Constriction – engorgement of blood vessels of genitals
Myotonia –> muscle contractions in genitals and throughout body
What is Orgasm?
Peak of Sexual Pleasure
release of Sexual Tension and rhythmic contraction of perinatal muscles and reproductive organs
Orgasm last from 3-25 seconds
What is seen during Resolution?
A rapid return to resting state
General sense of well-being

Absent or reduced sexual interest/arousal in response to internal/external sexual cues
Absent of reduced genital/non genital sensations
How do you classify Erectile Disorder?
At least 1 of the following almost all occasions of sexual activity (6 months)
Cant get an erection
cant maintain an erection until completion
marked decrease erection rigidity
What is meant by Female Orgasmic Disorder?
Persistent or recurrent delay in, abscence of orgasm or reduced intensity following normal sexual excitement phase for 6 months
What is meant by Delayed Ejaculation?
Either of the following almost always for atleast 6 months
Marked delay in ejaculation
marked infrequency of abscence of ejaculation
What is the time frame for Premature Ejaculation?
Within approximately 1 minute
(almost always for 6 months)
How would you diagnose Genit-Pelvic Pain Penetration Disorder?
Persistent difficulties with 1 or more, for atleast 6 months:
Vaginal Penetration during intercourse
Marked Vulvovaginal or pelvic pain during intercourse
Marked fear or anxiety about pain
marked tensing or tightening of pelvic floor muscles
What are some behavioral therapies for people with sexual dysfunction?
Sensate Focus – not having sex for a period of time, than re-introducing it
Start-Stop Method (for premature ejac)
Relaxation Techniques
Masturbation
With Victimizing Paraphilias what personality disorder is commonly seen?
Anti-Social Personality Disorder
What is Sexual Masochism Disorder?
Deriving sexual pleasure from suffering
What is Asphyxiophillia or Hypoxyphillia?
Sexual Arousal by oxygen deprivation
It increases the intensity of orgasm
(seen in white males <30 years)
What is Sexual Sadism Disorder?
Sexual arousal from the physical or psychological suffering of another person.
What is Exhibitionism?
Exposure of Genitals to unsuspecting strangers
What is Fetishistic Disorder?
“wearing womens panties”
What is Frotteuristic Disorder?
Touching/Rubbing up against non-consenting people
What is Transvestic Disorder?
Sexual arousing fantasies, urgers, behaviors about cross dressing
What is Voyeuristic Disorder?
Watching an unsuspecting person who is naked, disrobing, or engaging in sexual activity
(must be +18)
What is Pedophilic Disorder?
Sexual Fantasies about pre-pubescent children (<13 years old)
The person must be +16 years and at least 5 years older than the child
(Non-exclusive vs Exclusive)
What are the current treatments for Pedophillic Disorders?
None have shown efficacy
GnRH tx did show promise, but is similar to physical castration
