Behaviourist approach exam Flashcards
Classical conditioning
Learning which occurs through associations made between the unconditioned stimulus and the neutral stimulus
Before conditioning
unconditioned stimulus produces the unconditioned response
During conditioning
Neutral stimulus is repeatedly paired with the unconditioned stimulus, producing an unconditioned response
After conditioning
Neutral stimulus becomes conditioned stimulus, producing a conditioned response
Pavlov
Demonstrated that dogs could be conditioned to salivate upon hearing a bell
BC pavlov
Unconditioned stimulus (food) produced an unconditioned response (salivation)
DC pavlov
Unconditioned stimulus was repeatedly paired with a neutral stimulus (bell) to produce the same unconditioned response of salivation
Association made
Between the unconditioned stimulus and the neutral stimulus
AC pavlov
Neutral stimulus becomes the conditioned stimulus, producing the conditioned response of salivation
