Beginning and Ending Steps

What are the beginning steps?

1. Face to Face Introduction: greet & call patient by name, give your name and title & explanation of the skill you will do
2. Pull the privacy curtain
3. Put gloves on (if needed) & gather supplies, lay them out on your clean barrier, then do the skill

What are the ending steps?

Answer 2

Remember: Always take care of your patient 1st then clean up then begin your ending steps.

1. Put the call light within Patient’s reach FIRST.
2. Lower the bed frame/height to lowest position (Not the head of the bed)
3. Lock the brakes
4. Remove privacy curtain & side rail if used
5. State washed your hands
6. STOP and THINK: Have you missed any steps/made mistakes? Correct all mistakes BEFORE telling the tester you have completed skill.
7. LAST: If done with the skill, tell the tester you completed the skill

Remember: Once you say you completed the skill you CANNOT go back to fix a step. Must move to the next skill
