Before Start Clearance Flashcards

Q

LOADSHEET.

PRELIM OR FINAL LOADSHEET:

A

CHECK.

Both crew members carefully check the Load and Trim Sheet (LTS), particularly for gross errors.
Make sure that the loadsheet data is correct:
-Correct flight
-Correct aircraft
-Basic weight and index
-Configuration
-FOB

ZFW/ZFWCG:

A

CHECK/REVISE.

The PF compares the ZFW and ZFWCG with the previously entered data, and adjusts if necessary.

The PM crosschecks the ZFW and ZFWCG entered in the FMS.

BLOCK FUEL:

A

CHECK/REVISE.

The PF enters final fuel ordered as FMS BLOCK fuel on INIT B page.

  • Check FMS BLOCK fuel agrees with loadsheet TO FUEL plus CFP planned taxi fuel and is in close agreement with ECAM FOB.
  • Check loadsheet TOW ACT agrees with FMS TOW on INIT B page and is in close agreement with the FlySmart TAKEOFF application TOW and ECAM GW less CFP planned taxi fuel.
  • Check that the takeoff CG is within LTS operational limits.

Q

FOB:

A

CHECK.

  • Check that ECAM fuel on board corresponds to the F-PLN.
  • Check that fuel imbalance is within limits.
  • Crosscheck that the sum of the FOB recorded at the end of the last flight and the fuel uplift (if any) is consistent with the current FOB. If an abnormal discrepancy is found, maintenance action is due.

FMS TO DATA CONFIRMATION.

FMS FINAL TAKEOFF PERF DATA:

A

CHECK.

The PF shall:

  • Brief the performance data on the FMS PERF TO page.
  • Brief V1 (blue) and V2 (magenta) values on top of the PFD speed scale.
  • Brief takeoff configuration and associated flap retraction strategy including flap auto-retraction.
  • Brief configuration requirements for close in turns (if applicable).
  • Brief packs off and anti ice requirements for takeoff.

PM:

A

CROSSCHECK.

The PM shall:

  • Crosscheck the performance data displayed on the PM’s EFB with the FMS PERF TO page.
  • Compare Green Dot speed computed using the TAKEOFF application, then respond with “CHECKED”.

FMS TAKEOFF DATA:

A

REVISE.

The PF revises the takeoff data in the FMS.
If the flight crew uses the optimum configuration option for the computation, they should pay specific attention to changes to the configuration of the slats/flaps at takeoff.

EFB/MCDU GREEN DOT:

A

The PM compares Green Dot speed computed by the FMGS and the Green Dot speed computed using the TAKEOFF application.

A discrepancy of more than +/- 2Kts indicates a difference in the TOW used in both systems (EFB/FMGS).

Q

BEFORE START CHECKLIST down to the line:

A

COMPLETE.

17
Q

FINAL LOADSHEET.

CHANGE FROM PRELIM XX:

A

CHECK.

Both crew members check the TOW CHG values. If these values exceed 200kg/1.0% MAC, PF will adjust INIT B (or FUEL PRED as applicable).

**The edition number XX must reflect the latest PRELIM (or FINAL) loadsheet edition number used for FMS data entry. If not a full crosscheck of loadsheet data is required.

18
Q

FINAL LOADSHEET.

TOW ACT:

A

CROSSCHECK.

Both crew members check that the new TOW is in agreement with the previously entered TOW ACT. Otherwise, the PF and PM independently compute and revise again the takeoff performance data.

19
Q

FINAL LOADSHEET.

FINAL LOADSHEET:

A

SIGN (CM 1).

Send ACARS loadsheet acknowledgment and confirm receipt (ACK). Sign and name the paper copy.

20
Q

AT START CLEARANCE.

PUSHBACK/START CLEARANCE:

A

OBTAIN.

Obtain ATC pushback/startup clearance.
Obtain ground crew clearance.

21
Q

AT START CLEARANCE.

ATC:

A

SET FOR OPERATION.

ATC is set in accordance with airport requirements (normal selection is ATC mode sel to AUTO).

22
Q

AT START CLEARANCE.

WINDOWS AND DOORS:

A

CHECK CLOSED.

  • Check sliding window is correctly closed and locked.
  • Check, on the ECAM lower display, that all aircraft doors are closed.
  • Check that the cockpit door is closed and locked.
  • Slides, check armed.
23
Q

AT START CLEARANCE.

EXTERIOR LIGHTS.

BEACON sw:

A

ON.

24
Q

AT START CLEARANCE.

THRUST LEVERS:

A

IDLE.

-The engines will start, regardless of the thrust lever position. Thrust will rapidly increase to the corresponding thrust lever position, causing a hazardous situation, if the thrust levers are not at IDLE.

25
Q

AT START CLEARANCE.

ACCU PRESSURE:

A

CHECK.

The ACCU PRESS indication must be in the green band. If required, use the electric pump on yellow hydraulic system to recharge the brake accumulator.

Yellow and green hydraulic systems are pressurised from the yellow electric pump.
Get ground crew clearance before using the electric pump.

26
Q

AT START CLEARANCE.

PARKING BRAKE AND NOSEWHEEL STEERING.

If pushback not required:

A

PRK BRK handle CHECK ON.

BRAKE PRESS indicator CHECK.
-Check for normal indications.

BEFORE START CHECKLIST below the line COMPLETE.

27
Q

AT START CLEARANCE.

PARKING BRAKE AND NOSEWHEEL STEERING.

If pushback is required:

A

N/W STRG DISC MEMO CHECK DISPLAYED.
(If the ECAM does not display the N WHEEL STEERG DISC memo, but the ground crew confirms that the tow pin is in the towing position, the flight crew should not start the engine during pushback. This is to avoid possible nose landing gear damage upon green hydraulic pressurisation).

BEFORE START CHECKLIST below the line COMPLETE.

PARK BRK handle OFF.

Do not use brakes during pushback, unless required due to an emergency.

28
Q

When pushback is completed:

A

PARK BRK handle ON.

BRAKE PRESS indicator CHECK.
Check for normal indications.
Ask the ground crew for towbar disconnection.
