Spring Line (when mooring)
Tow Strap (when towing)

When mooring, when made, or holding, allows the vessel to “spring” or engage forward moment and close/open a quarter.

When Towing, this line is the actual line towing the vessel along side moving forward and will take the most strain.

Usually first/last line to go over.

When towing alongside, this backing strap is the line that breaks the vessels momentum forward and tows the vessel aft when backing. opposing the tow strap.
