A
  • Films for cinema release seen by atkeast 2 compliance officers
  • Age rating recommendation approved by compliance managers
  • If film on borderline between 2 categories, of if policy issues arise, may be seen by other BBFC members, cheif executive, + president and vice president
  • May also call for legal advice on acceptability of film content + potential to harm

What are the guidelines for a 12 certificate?

A
  • Nobody under 12 can view, buy, or rent
  • Film generally mustn’t include sexual violence, drygs, dangerous behaviour, nudity, suicide + self harm, + other sensitive topics

A
  • Includes racist lang + behaviour but clear justification and context
  • Where violence occurs, brief with no strong detail + scenes of discrimination spread across story + separated by scenes with gentle + uplifting scenes
  • Overall, film is uplifting, reassuring, light
