How do you choose IV site?
distal to proximal, non-infiltrated, right or left handed, will they have surgery, what is it for so you know the guage, then apply tourniquet and get a bouncy vein
Draw all the IV sites on forearm

Remove tourniquet, glove up and clean with alcohol

Reapply tourniquet and anchor skin.

venipuncture at less than 45 degree angle

insert slightly further and advance catheter off stylet

Occlude vein and re-release tourniquet

flush catheter

remove syringe

position tape over J loop hub

apply tegederm over catheter hub

Secure J loop (not over tegederm)
