1777
Battle of Trenton
December 26, 1776 – George Washington and his troops defeat a professional army of Hessian mercenaries. Victory at Trenton, and subsequent victory at Princeton, renewed American morale for the war.
Battle of Bunker Hill
June 1775 – British held the battle, but at the cost of a great number of men
Fort Ticonderoga
May 1775 –Strategic British fort in upstate New York captured by troops led by Ethan Allen and Benedict Arnold. Important win for Americans strategically, and also for American Morale. British cannons were confiscated, lugged to Boston, and positioned there against the British, who evacuated the city in March of 1776
