Yorktown
Charles Cornwallis moved his troops in hopes of maintaining communication with the British Navy leading to a victory for the colonists. Lord North knew the war was over after he learned the outcomes of the Battle of Yorktown. There were a few more battles, but the British did not think they had enough resources to continue fighting
Bunker Hill
the fighting was fierce for both sides. If the colonists could control Bunker Hill their artillery could stop British supply ships from entering the Boston Harbor
Trenton
The contracts many of his soldiers were fighting under were due to expire, and he feared many of them would not reenlist in a losing army so it was very important to win this battle
Valley Forge
Starving, in poor condition during the winter, Washington’s troops rested at Valley Forge and one fourth of Washington’s troops died of disease and malnutrition in 1777-1778
