What was the background of the Battle of Northampton?
Yorkists occupy Sandwich. Salisbury, Warwick and Edward, earl of March lead a march from Kent to London - spreading propaganda about their allegiance to the King but that the traitors around him endanger them.
Details of the Battle of Northampton.
7 bishops including the Archbishop of Canterbury join the Yorkist army. The Lancastrian army was betrayed by Lord Grey of Ruthin which enabled a Yorkist Victory.
Outcome of the Battle of Northampton.
Yorkist victory - Henry VI captured by the Yorkists. Margaret of Anjou and Prince Edward flee north having remained in Coventry during the battle. Following this York returns from Ireland.
