Describe Harold Godwinson
His sister was married to king. He was the kings advisor and a loyal soldier. He ruled the country on the kings behalf because he was focused on religion. He was promised the throne on Edward’s deathbed and he was the Earl of Wessex and an Anglo Saxon
Describe Harald Hardrada
He was a Viking with Viking allies. Godwinson’s brother Tostig is on Hardrada’s side. Harald was the king of Norway and was related to King Cnut but he was kicked out of England from war. His half brother Edward the Confessor took the throne.

He was the Duke of Normandy and a French Norman. He was the cousin of the late king and they were very close. He was an experienced soldier using advanced military weapons

He was the great nephew of the king and an Anglo Saxon prince. In 1057, Edgar’s father was named heir but he died before he was crowned. He was around 14 years old and lacked experience

He was the previous Earl of Northumbria but his high taxes and brutal treatment made him disliked. Harold turned against him to maintain peace and made Morcar the new Earl.
