Scientific Method
A seven step systematic method about asking and answering to establish facts.
Observation
Noticing something in the world around us.
Questioning
Asking things about what we’ve seen.
Research
Looking for known information about our topic.
Hypothesis
Making an educated guess on what the answer to our question is.
Experimenting
Designing experiments to confirm or debunk our hypothesis.
Analysis
Going over results.
Reporting
Sharing the results of our experiment with the public.
Variables
Things that can differ per subject or change over time.
Independent Variables
The cause in cause and effect. What you start with in an experiment.
Dependent Variables
The effect. The results of an experiment. Changes depending on independent variables.
Mean
The sum of all numbers in a set divided by the amount of numbers added.
Median
The number in the middle of a set of numbers ordered smallest to largest.
Mode
The number that appears most often.
