In order to be eligible for BasicMed you must
Currently hold and have in possession valid US drivers license.
Have held Med Cert at some point after July 14, 2006.
In order to operate under BasicMed you must
Complete Medical Evaluation Course.
Retain completion of course in logbook.
Complete section 2 of FAA form 8700-2.
- Provide sections 1-3 to
state licensed physician
who will perform medical
examination.
You may also go through MedXpress and use an AME.
How often is examination required?
Every 24 cal months.
Must keep proof in logbook.
Privileges of BasicMed.
May act as PIC without a Med cert as long as:
- comply with and limitations
on drivers license. - completed Medical
Evaluation Course. - have proof in logbook.
Limitations of BasicMed.
The Aircraft:
- must not be authorized to
carry more than 6
passengers.
- must not be carrying more
than 5 passengers. - must not have maximum
takeoff weight grater than
6000 lbs.
No portion of the flight may be carried out:
- Above 18,000 MSL
- Above 250 KIAS
- Outside United States
