different branches have different jobs
each branch has to do its own job

each branch has to make sure of the branches aren’t getting too powerful

by legislative:
may override the president’s veto, may impeach the president, approves appointments of judges, approves treaties
by judicial: declare executive asked unconditional
checks on the legislative branch
by the executive branch:
may veto legislation, may call special sessions of Congress
