How do you do a trolley check
Always know where trolley is located
Specialised trolleys in certain departements- paediatrics
Should check regularly daily or monthly
Always check and restock after crash call
What should you do if someone’s bleeding
Apply pressure to prevent blood loss
Use gloves if available to reduce risk of infection
If object in wound try not to put pressure on the object
Don’t use antiseptic ointment , wool or wipes
Use clean dressing to bandage the wound
Avoid sticky dressing and use Vaseline gauze wrap- petroleum
how to tell if someone’s in shock
Confused, reduced awareness and sloppy, cold moist skin
Weak or rapid heartbeat
Hyperventilation -or rapid breathing
Nausea vomittin
What to do if someone’s in shock
Lay them down and elevate legs and feet slightly
Loosen tight clothes and encourage then to stay still
Don’t give food or drinks to then
Can be life threatening so seek help
What to do if someone’s chocking
Silent
Encourage coughing
Give 5 back slaps
Or abdominal thrusts
If doesn’t work call ambulance
Children different - lay then along thigh or forearm with head and back supported by your arms
And do the back slaps as normal
Chest thrusts- use 2 fingers in middle and 5 thrusts and compress chest by a third
What should you do with fainting
Not usually a serious sign
Contact GP if regular

What is hyperglycaemia and signs and what should you do
High blood sugars
Feeling thirsty, urinating more, weak or tired ,weight loss, blurred vision
Take prescribed medication
Avoid starchy ad sugary foods
Reduce stress and exercise
