Boundaries
Junctional region between the neck and the thorax
Superior side of the superior thoracic aperture
Laterally = 1st pair of ribs
Anteriorly = manubrium of sternum
Posteriorly = body of T1
Arteries
Brachiocephalic trunk
Left common carotid
Left subclavian
Subclavian arteries
Difference in origin btw right and leftt
Right = from brachio, Left = from aorta
Both sides divide into three parts by ant scalene
Subclavian artery 1st division
1st = thyrocervical trunk, vertebral, internal thoracic
Subclavian artery 2nd divison
costocervical trunk
3rd part
dorsoscapular if present
Veins
Internal jugular
Subclavian
Brachiocephalic
Nerves
Vagus
Runs with internal jug and common carotid
Branch, recurrent laryngeal
Phrenic - lies anterior surface of ant. scalene
Sympathetic trunk - medially located to carotid sheath
Lymphatics
Superficial = lie with EJV Deep = lie with IJV
