BBC is the most common form of skin cancer.
aka Rodent Ulcer
Metastasis is rare.
Very locally destructive.

  • fair skin

Presentation of BCC?

A

typically: pearly nodule with a raised, red, edge. May be scaly. Often on face.

  • usually nodular
  • may be erythematous or non pigmented
  • may be plaque like
  • may be ulcerated
  • can crust over, heal and reduce a bit but generally enlargement is progressive

Treatment for BCC?

A
  • surgical excision, 3mm margin
  • can use topicals (but not on head or neck):
  • imiquimod
  • cryotherapy may be suitable

Recurrence is about 5%
