A misnomer is giving the wrong name for a person, thing or place. (noun)
It is a common misnomer that gray squirrels hibernate.
An example of misnomer is someone telling a child that an elephant is a lion.
Hindsight

Hindsight means the recognizing of the dangers and/or possibilities of a situation after it occurs. (noun)
Of course i have the benefit of historical hindsight.
An example of hindsight is realizing the dangers of bungie jumping off a cliff after completing the activity and thinking about what could have happened.
Ghastly

Ghastly describes something repellent, horrible, frightful, ugly,macabre or sickly. (adjective)
Bad injuries that are so horrible you have to look away are an example of ghastly injuries.
A person who is very pale and sick is an example of someone who would be described as looking ghastly.
A really ugly wallpaper is an example of something you would describe as ghastly wallpaper.
Garish

over bright in color; unpleasantly bright; gaudy.
Garish describes something showy, gaudy or overdone in a tasteless way. (adjective)
An example of something that would be described as garish is a giant and overdone necklace dripping with fake diamonds.
e.x If you think the sample to the left looks garish, just wait till you see the fully animated ones on the site!

An example of a terrestrial being is an animal.
A terrestrial is someone who lives on earth. (noun)
An example of a terrestrial is a person who lives on the planet.

Doctrine is a principle or group of principles which are taught by a religion or political party. (noun)
An example of doctrine is the teaching of the Ten Commandments in Christianity.

An example of an arboreal part of the chimpanzee’s anatomy is its long arms.
ex. The orangutan is the only strictly arboreal ape and is actually the largest tree living mammal in the world.

Temperate means mild, moderate. If you’re a temperate person, you are calm, reasonable. If you live in a temperate climate it’s warm and sunny, but not too hot.

Impenetrable means cannot be passed through or solved. (adjective)
An example of something impenetrable is an overgrown hiking trail; an impenetrable trail.
An example of something impenetrable is a riddle that has never been figured out.
However, no password-protected system of data storage and retrieval can be made entirely impenetrable.
