Why is barium sulfate useful for x-rays?
A
It is opaque to x-rays so it will show up in the gut to show any problems
It is also insoluble so it won’t mix into the blood stream

How would you make a pure dry sample of barium sulfate?
A
Mix barium nitrate + potassium sulfate
Filter out the precipitate of barium sulfate
Wash it with distilled water
Leave to dry on filter paper
