Gastric Band

Sleeve Gastrectomy

Endoscopic (Balloon, Sleeves, Duodenal Ablations)

Stomach Stapling (no longer done)

What are the indications for bariatric surgery?

A

> 40 BMI or >35 with risk factors

Fit for GA and surgery

No significant weight loss for more than 6 months with non-surgical methods

BMI >30 with newly diagnosed T2DM

Indian subcontinent ethnic back ground with BMI <35 May be considered

DO NOT operate on <18 Years old (rarely)

Survival post surgery >5 years
