Name and describe two strategies implemented in response to Bangladesh’s growing population
National Family Planning Program was implemented between 1973 and 1978 by the National Government in an aim to keep the population under the smaller side of 150 million. The program works by supporting the lowering of fertility rates, development of home visitation by trained professionals and advise on contraceptive choice. The plan is overall affordable as it effectively lowers fertility rate and increases GNI.
Digitisation of Maternal Community Child Health Care nationally in Bangladesh was implemented by the Directorate General of Family Planning (DGFP). The program is going to convert all their family planning services into e-services in order to attain the goal of a digital Bangladesh. There are currently 30000 family planning workers who are trained to use the technology providing house to house assistance. This improves efficiency as it is easy to use and carry the tablets.
The national strategy has been mostly effective as it is affordable and flexible.
