Bandura’s social learning theory Flashcards
what is his learning theory?
he states that children learn from observing and imitating someones behavior.
1 stage?
the child notices the behavior of another person
2 stage?
the child interlises this behavior by remembering it.
3 stage?
the child copies the behavior when the opportunity arises.
4 stage?
it can have a (positive or negative affect), they will repeat it or discard the behavior.
the bobo doll experiment
carried out in the 60’s, aimed to find out whether young children could imitate role models.
modeling, aggression arousal, test for delayed limitation.
vicarious reinforcement
when we observe someone else being either positively or negatively reinforced for behaving in a certain way.
makes us want to observe and imitate others.
strengths?
gives us a general idea of how we learn,
emphasizes the importance of our environment
weaknesses?
experiments create a false environment,
too simplistic,
ignores roles of nature and biological factors
