Baden

A

Southerly region on the east bank of the Rhine from Heidelberg to Basel and north shore of Lake Constance. Predominant grapes are Spatburgunder, Muller- Thurgau and Grauburgunder. Outstanding wines found between Frieberg and the Rhein where the slopes of an extinct volcano create a sun trap and are mineral rich. Kaiserstuhl Spatburgunder is full bodied and fruity and in strong demand at high prices.
