who are the typical patients?
A
patients with GI disease (IBD, PUD, diverticulitis) OR
h/o Gastric surgery (gastric resection, jejunoileal bypass surgery, blind loops of bowel)
Note: PUD = peptic ulcer disease

pathophys
A
overgrowth of bacteria with immune complexes deposited in the skin/synovium

clinical features
A
classic rash (red papulopustules/tender SQ nodules/EN-like lesions) + malaise, fever, chills, arthralgia/myalgia, diarrhea, hepatic failure, kidney stones, gallstones

Tx
A
surgical correction OR antibx (temporary improvement)
lesions last up to 1 month and recur frequently
