Back Of Leg Flashcards
Superficial muscles of back of leg
Gatronemius: lateral and medial head. Condyle, knee joint.
Soleus: fibula, 1/4th, soleal line on tibia, tendinous soleal arch
Plantaris: lateral supracondylar line, oblique popliteal ligament.
Tibial nerve.
Plantar flexion. Speed
Why is soleus called peripheral heart?
Large, valveless venous sinuses. Muscle contracts, venous return.
Deep muscles of back of leg
Popliteus: lat surface of lat condyle of femur; tibia above soleal line.
Flexor digitorum longus: tibia upper 2/3rds
Flexor hallucis longus: fibula, lower 3/4th, interosseous mb
Tibialis posterior: upper 2/3 lat part of tibia, fibula, interosseous mb; tuberosity of navicular.
Posterior tibial artery
Lower border of popliteus, postmed side of ankle.
Superficial n deep relations.
Branches: peroneal, muscular, nutrient artery to tibia.
Anastomotic: circumflex fibular, comm branch, malleolar, calcaneal.
Terminal
Peroneal artery
Largest, 2.5 cm below lower border of popliteus. Fibula, inferior tibiofibular and ankle joints.
Muscular- post&lat comp
Nutrient artery to fibula
Anastomotic: comm branch to comm branch of post tibial
Large perforating branch
Lateral malleolar
Calcenean
Tibial nerve
Similar to post tibial artery. Branches: muscular- tibialis post, flexor digi longus, flexor hallucis longus, deep part of soleus Cutaneous: med calcanean Articular Terminal
Flexor retinaculum
Post surface of med malleolus Med tubercle of calcaneous Tendon of tibialis posterior Tendon of flexor digitorum longus Post tibial artery and terminal, venae Tibial nerve and terminal Tendon of flexor hallucis longus. Tarsal tunnel. Origin to abductor hallucis.
