Q

Fibrous Joint (Synarthrosis) Types

A

Ex. Sutures: Serrated, Squamous, Planar

Syndesmosis: unites bones w/ a sheet of fibrous tissue (a ligament or fibrous membrane) Ex. Interosseus membrane

Syndesmosis (gomphosis or socket): A fibrous joint in which a peg like process fits into a socket (ex. tooth)

Q

Cartilaginous Joint (Amphiarthrosis) Types

A
  1. Primary C.J. (Synchondrosis): bones united by cartilage to permit growth (ex. epiphysis plate)
  2. Secondary C. J. (Symphysis): strong, slightly movable joints united by fibrocartilige (ex. intervertebral discs)
