Back and Spinal Cord Flashcards
The back extends from where to where?
Extends from base of skill (occiput) to Iliac Crest (L4).
Loc of superior angle of scapula.
At about T1-T2.
Loc of inferior angle of scapula.
At about T7.
Which muscles are responsible for the movement and erect position of the vertebral column?
Erector spine muscles and the transversospinalis muscles.
The epaxial musculature of the embryonic myotomes are exclusively innervated by what type of spinal nerves?
Dorsal rami of the spinal nerves.
What is the thoracolumbar fascia?
Thickening of deep fascia that invests several muscle groups and continues with the aponeurosis of the latismissus dorsi muscle.
What muscles act on appendicular skeleton of the upper limbs?
Latissimus dorsi, trapezius, levator scapulae, rhomboideus major and minor, serratus anterior
What muscles acting on the ribs (aka respiration)?
Serratus posterior superior, serratus posterior inferior, lavatories costarum.
What innervates superficial back muscles?
Ventral rami of spinal nerves or cranial nerve XI.
What innervates deep back muscles?
Dorsal rami of spinal nerves.
What are the muscles of the suboccipital triangle?
Rectus capitis posterior major and minor, obliquus capitits superior and inferior
What innervates the trapezius muscles?
Spinal accessory nerve, cranial nerve XI. [ventral rami]
What innervates latissimus dorsi muscles?
Thoracodorsal (C6-C8). [ventral rami]
What innervates the serratus anterior muscle?
Long thoracic nerve (C6-C8). [ventral rami]
What innervates the Rhomboids muscles?
Dorsal scapular (C5). [ventral rami]
