What is fertilizer and how is it used?
A chemical or natural substance that adds nutrients to soil.
What is Irrigation?
watering crops
What is the definition of clearing land?
Removing all the plant’s in an area to make room for other plants
what is plowing?
plowing is cutting into the soil and turning the top over.
What is crop rotation?
Planting a different crop in a field every year.
why might harvesting plants reducing soil quality?
Harvesting plants means that we are not letting plants die and decompose into the soil. This decreases the amount of nutrients in the soil.
How is using fertlizer helpful to plants?
it provides nutrients
What is harmful by putting fertilizer in the ground?
Over use can pollute Streams,Rivers,and lakes.
How is irrigation helpful to plants?
It provides water for plants during dry seasons.
How can irrigation be harmful to plants?
Overwatering can cause root rot.
How can plowing be helpful?
Plowing makes the soil less compacted temporarily (allows drainage).
How is plowing harmful?
plowing makes the soils particles smaller, which causes soil top be more compact like clay.
How can clearing land can be helpful?
It makes space for new plants to grow.
how is clearing land harmful?
it can lead to erosion (no roots are holding the soil in place).
how might crop rotation be helpful?
less fertilizer is needed because plants will use all of the different types of nutrients that are already in the soil.
