What are the traits of loam soil?
Loam soil is made out of a balance of mineral particles and organic particles.
What are the good features of loam soil?
Loam soil holds water well and has good drainage, it also has a good amount of nutrients.
What are the bad features of loam soil?
Some plants have adapted to sandy or clay soil and can’t survive in loam soil.
What is clay soil made up of?
Mostly smaller mineral particles (silt), but with very little humus.
what is clay soil bad for
poor drainage, little nutrients
Why would clay soil be good for plants?
holds water well
what are the characteristics of sandy soil
mostly larger mineral particles [sand] it has very little humus.
what are some good features of sandy soil
it allows good drainage to avoid root rot.
what are some bad features of sandy soil
it doesn’t hold water well and it has little nutrients.
what features in soil are important to help the plants do really well
the soil needs to be able to hold water, drain water, contain nutrient and hold the plant in well by its roots.
