B.9 Flashcards
Aerobic respiration
This is a reaction wich happens with oxygen and sugar react and we need this to react for us to live.
The equation for resprtion
C6H12+6O2–>6CO2+6H2O
oxygen and glucose, and produces carbon dioxide, water, and energy
Why is respiration important
Respiration is essential for life because it provides energy for carrying out all the life processes which are necessary to keep the organisms alive. Breathing is important to organisms because cells require oxygen to move, reproduce and function.
Anaerobic respiration
Anaerobic respiration transfers energy from glucose to cells.
Metabolism
Metabolism is the chemical reactions in the body’s cells that change food into energy. Our bodies need this energy to do everything from moving to thinking to growing. Specific proteins in the body control the chemical reactions of metabolism.
The liver
The liver is an organ about the size of a football. It sits just under your rib cage on the right side of your abdomen. The liver is essential for digesting food and ridding your body of toxic substances. Liver disease can be inherited (genetic).
Muscle fatigue
When using your mucles alot they can become fatigued this can also bee from a bulid up of latic acids
Were do lactik acid come from
The acids are produced by an anaerobic resprtion in the mucle cells
Oxygen debt
The amount of oxygen need to convert the acids
