Oesophagus
This is what contracts the food down in from the mouth to the stomach
Liver
The liver is essential for digesting food and ridding your body of toxic substances.
Stomach
the stomach through a muscular valve called the lower esophageal sphincter. The stomach secretes acid and enzymes that digest food.
Large intestines
The colon absorbs water from wastes, creating stool. As stool enters the rectum, nerves there create the urge to defecate.
Small intestines
the part of the intestine that runs between the stomach and the large intestine; the duodenum, jejunum, and ileum collectively.
Rectum
The rectum is a chamber that begins at the end of the large intestine, immediately following the sigmoid colon, and ends at the anus (see also Overview of the Anus and Rectum).
