Contaminated Runways
Assume Temp Derate NOT PERMITTED
TakeOff On Contaminated Runway NOT ALLOWED when
1/2” slush/wet snow/water
4” dry snow .
Icing Conditions
Ground OAT or TAT<=10C
In vis moisture or <1600m
Or standing water present
Engine TAI
On after both started
Taxiing
Flaps UP
Engine Runup <= 3C
Engine Runup
50% N1 for 1 sec
Per hour
If done at TO vib < 4
Fan Ice Removal
In-Flight
(<70% + vib)
One at a time
Near Idle then 70%
for 10-30sec
Repeat 15 mins
Exterior Inspection
TO permitted
3mm lower surface fuel frost. But LE, controls, upper wing clear of snow, ice, frost
Exterior Inspection
TO permitted
With hoar frost. Can see paint.
But inlets, vents, gear doors free of snow/ice.
Cold Temperature Altimeter Correction
FCOM SP.16.10
- Round up nearest 100;
- not for ATC radar vect;
- FL’s;
- 0 deg or abv mnm temp.
Wet Runway
Shiny
Contaminated Runway
> 25% >3mm or slush or snow, ice
Damp
Not shiny.
If precip on Aircraft then frost can form
-2 - + 15 C
