B737-800 QRH Flashcards
ENGINE OVERHEAT
(ENG 1 OVERHEAT or ENG 2 OVERHEAT)
8.5
Condition:
An Overheat is detected in the engine.
1, Auto-throttle ( if engaged)……..Disengage
2, Thrust lever
(Affected side)……….Confirm…….Close.
3, IF the ENG OVERHEAT light STAYS ILLUMINATED…..
Go to the the engine fire or engine severe damage or separation checklist on pg. 8.2
Aborted Engine start
7.1
Condition:
During ground start, an abort start condition occurs.
Objective:
To shut down engine and motor it
1, engine start lever (affected engine)…..CUTOFF
Chapter 15
Warning systems
Warning Horn (intermittent)
or
Warning Light - Cabin Alititude or Takeoff Configuration.
(Left Forward panel- TAKEOFF CONFIG
CABIN ALTITUDE)
( Right Forward panel- CABIN ALTITUDE TAKEOFF CONFIG)
15.2
Condition:
One of these occurs:
- In flight, at an A/C flight altitude above 10000’amsl, the intermittent warning horn sounds or a CABIN ALTITUDE light ( if installed and operative) illuminates when the cabin is at or above 10000’
-On the ground, the intermittent warning horn sounds or a TAKEOFF CONFIG light ( if inst and optve) illuminates, when the takeoff configuration is not correct during T/o
1, IF the the intermittent warning horn sounds or a CABIN ALTITUDE light illuminates in flight at an altitude above 10000’ amsl:
- Don oxygen masks and set regulators to 100%
- Establish crew communications
=Go to cabin altitude warning or rapid decompression checklist pg 2.1
2, IF the intermittent warning horn sounds or a TAKEOFF CONFIG light illuminates on the ground:
Assure correct a/c t/o configuration.
Chapter 1
Aircraft general, emergency equipment, doors and windows.
Chapter 11
Flight management, navigation.
Emergency Descent 0.1
Condition:
One or more of these occur:
- Cabin alltitude cannot be controlled when the aircraft is above 14000ft
- A rapid descent is needed.
1, Announce the emergency descent
2, Passenger signs………………ON
3, WITHOUT DELAY, decend to the lowest safe altitude or 10000ft, whichever is higher.
4, ENGINE START switches (both)……..CONT
5, Thrust levers (both)………………..Reduce thrust to minimum or as needed for anti-ice
6, Speedbrake……………FLIGHT DETENT
7, set target speed to Mmo/Vmo
(Caution speed if structural integrity is in doubt).
TAKEOFF CONFIGURATION
(TAKEOFF CONFIG)
15.1
Condition:
On the ground, the intermittent cabin altitude/configuration warning horn sound or a TAKEOFF CONFIG lights illuminate when advancing the thrust levers to T/O thrust
1, Assure correct T/o configuration
Loss of thrust on both engines
Condition: Both of these occur: -Both engines have a loss of thrust -Both engine fail alerts show Objective: to restart at least one engine
1, ENGINE START switches (both)…..FLT
2, Engine start levers (both)…………CUTOFF
3, WHEN EGT decrease:
Engine start levers………IDLE detent
4, IF EGT reaches redline or there is no increase in EGT within 30 secs:
Engine start lever
(affected engine)…………CUTOFF
IF EGT again reaches redline or there is no increase in EGT within 30 secs, repeat as needed.
LANDING CONFIGURATION
15.1
Condition:
In flight, the steady warning horn sounds
1, Assure correct a/c landing configuration
Chapter 13
Hydraulics
Chapter 9
Flight Controls
Engine Limit Or Surge or Stall
7.2
Condition:
One or more of these occur:
-engine indications are abnormal
-engine indications are rapidly approaching or exceeding limits
-abnormal engine noises are heard, possibly with airframe vibration
-There is no response to thrust lever movement or the response is abnormal
-Flames in the engine inlet or exhaust are reported.
Objective:
To attempt to recover normal engine operation or shut down the engine if recovery not possible.
1, Auto-throttle( if engaged)………Disengage
2, Thrust lever
(affected engine)……Confirm……Retard until indications stay within limits or the thrust lever is closed.
Cabin Altitude Warning or Rapid Decompression (Cabin Altitude) 2.1
Condition:
One or more of these occur:
-Cabin altitude exceedance
-In flight, the intermittent cabin altitude/configuration warning-horn sounds or a CABIN ALTITUDE light illuminates
1, Don oxygen mask and set regulators to 100%
2, Establish Crew communications
3, Pressurisation mode controller……..MAN
4, Outflow valve switch………….Hold in CLOSE until the outflow VALVE indication shows fully closed
5, IF cabin altitude is uncontrollable:
-Passenger signs on
-PASS OXYGEN switch……………ON
( continue with emergency descent checklist)
Runaway Stabiliser
Condition:
Uncommanded stabiliser trim movement occurs continuously
1, Control collumn……………Hold Firmly
2, Autopilot (if engaged)……..Disengage
Do NOT re-engage the autopilot
Control aircraft pitch attitude manually with control column and main electric trim as needed
3, Autothrottle ( if engaged)….Disengage
Do not re-engage Autothrottle.
4,If runaway stops: ……..end
5, IF the runaway continues:
STAB TRIM CUTOUT
switches(both)………………..cutout
IF the runaway continues ; Stabiliser Trim wheel...........Grasp and Hold.
