What is a correlation
Where the 2 pieces of data are linked in some way but do not effect or cause each other
What is a casual mechanism
When two factors are correlated and slightly effect each other
What is a causation
When one factor direclty leads to another
E.G number of people that play football every day to the amount of people that like football that play it every day
What are 2 of the dangerous chemicals in tobacco
Carbon monoxide- reduce amount of oxygen blood can carry
Tar- accumulates on the lungs turning them grey. Also makes the cilia stop working
What is the main danger with obesity
Increases risk of type 2 diabetes and is the main cause of 85 percent of people that get type 2 diabetes
How does exercise effect health
People that exercise regularly often have bigger and stronger hearts as they work them more often. They also often carry less fat meaning they properly have less fatty deposit in their arteries
What are the short term effects of alcohol on the body
slows reaction time causes difficulty walking can impair memory causes slurred speech causes changes in sleep patterns and mood, including increased anxiety and depression
What are the long term effects of alcohol on the body
Longer term drinking of excess alcohol; causes brain shrinkage leads to memory problems leads to psychiatric problems may result in the patient requiring long-term care
What are the risk of consuming alcohol during pregnancy
Miscarriage, stillbirths, premature births, and low birthweight .
The baby may also have slight facial deformities

Epidemiology is the study of the distribution and patterns of health and disease, in and across populations.
