What is the removal of waste products called?
Excretion
What happens if there is too much water in our blood plasma?
It will move into your blood cells causing them to swell and burst (lysis)
What happens if there is loo little of water or too much of a solute present?
Water will diffuse out of the body cells causing them to shrink
What is urine?
A solution contains urea, water and other waste substances
What produces urea?
The liver
What filters urea out of your blood and produces urine constantly?
Your kidneys
If you are short of water, what urine is produced?
Very little concentrated urine
If you take in too much water, what urine is produced?
Lots of dilute urine is produced
What is selective reabsorption?
When the kidney filters the substances. If it is useful it is put back into the blood
