B3 Flashcards
What are enzymes
Enzymes are the biological catalyst which speed up a reaction
Are all enzymes the same
No the active site can only cite to specific enzymes
How are active site destroyed
They can be destroyed by high temperatures or the wrong ph level
What are active site
Active site are substrates
Photosynthesis equation ?
Carbon dioxide+water —> glucose+oxygen
What is photosynthesis
Photosynthesis is a chemical reaction that allows energy to be made via chloroplasts
What type of vessels are the xylem and phloem
They are transport vessels
What is the chemical formula for photosynthesis
6H2O+6Co2 ~~> C6H12O6+6O2
Why do leaf’s have transparent cells
To allow sunlight through
What are the uses of Glucose
To form cellulose, proteins, nitrogen, fats, sucrose, starch
What is cellulose used for
To form cell walls
What are proteins used for
Growth/ repair
What are fats/ oils used for
Food storage and growth
What is starch used for
Food storage
What is the magnification equation
Magnification= image size/ actual size
How do light microscopes work
A light passes through a specimen and creates a magnified image using lenses
How do electron microscopes work
They work in a similar way to light except instead of light it is electrons passing through the specimen
What is the name of the lens with the lowest resolution
Objective lens
