What is plasma?
A
Makes up 55% of blood, pale yellow fluid, transports carbon dioxide and hormones and waste, suspends rbc wbc and platelets.

What do red blood cells do?
A
45% of blood, carry oxygen from the lungs to all cells in the body.

How are rbc adapted?
A
Large surface area (biconcave), no nucleus, full of haemoglobin (red pigment which bonds with oxygen).

What is the reaction for oxyhemoglobin?
A
Haemoglobin +Oxygen > Oxyhemoglobin
(Reversible reaction)

What are white blood cells, what do they do?
A
> 1% of blood, defend against disease, in immune system, some made antibodies and antitoxins, some engulf pathogens.

A
> 1% of blood, clump together to form blood clots.
